ABOUT

My artistic work consists of images where the individual meets the collective in a narration that stems from a different perspective each time. Human nature, the understanding of the individual identity of the subject, the contemporary way of existence in poetic or factual terms constitute the basic core of my visual pursuit.

My ultimate goal is to evoke a dynamic procedure in the viewers rather than endorse a passive stance. I am primarily interested in triggering the image content decipherment. At the same time, I encourage the viewers to examine their dynamic role and their projections in their understanding of the image.

To this end I use references to locations and time frames which might sometimes be incongruous. The unexpected, the elevation, the literalism, the divine character, the linearity and the lack of alteration eclipse my personal action/gesture while at the same time foster a dynamic dialogue with the recipient. The unvarying axis in my research includes universality, synchronicity and flexibility of interpretation.

The motive behind the creation of each work of art determines the method of approach, the medium and the final form. Assuming either a monumental or an ephemeral character, an audiovisual environment or a large scale, site specific installation is constructed, sometimes through a monolithic installation and other times through multiple units such as sculptural constructions, visual projections and sketches. My ultimate pursuit, in all cases, is to involve the viewer in the work so as to promote its experiential and multisensory intake.
